Here’s to 40!
In 1983, Balluff produced the first industrial RFID systems BIS. To us, that’s a success worth celebrating. Happy birthday!
Better traceability in industrial environments has been possible for 40 years, thanks to RFID systems (Radio Frequency Identification). These identification systems are a combination of a data carrier, a read/write head, and a processor unit — and they are a key technology for modern manufacturing. This is because a contactless data exchange makes individual production steps transparent and traceable.
The start of production of BIS coincided with Motorola’s first cellphone being offered for sale in stores, and Microsoft announcing the graphic user interface Windows 1.0. How fitting that all this happened in 1983, the World Communications Year as proclaimed by the UN.
